A Very Special Lady

This post is for Lilly and Jackson and myself, when I am too old to remember.

Meme has ALWAYS a very special part of my life. My earliest memories involve her and Jojo and staying at their house. Meme now has dementia and it is simply a horrible disease. Gone is the fiesty, loving little lady that I wanted to grow and be taller than. Many times I would measure myself against her to see if I had gotten taller than her. (I didn't get far beyond her.) My parents and AUnts have been cleaning out her house over the past few weeks and this past weekend they had a yard sale. My Aunt Pam made the comment that the only place that made her emotional was the kitchen I would would have to agree. Taking things out of her cabinets I had tears streaming down my face. Others walked out the front door with items for the yard sale and I headed to my car with boxes of glasses and bowls. Her drinking glasses made me remember Jojo and he ALWAYS had a cup of tea on a paper towel
sitting on the table.

So I took those home.
There were her Bird Coffee cups.

These were the cups that Meme and Jojo had their coffee out of every morning along with a bowl of cereal. It was this time that they prayed together. What a lovely memory. So of course the coffee cups went in the car. Then I came across the pudding cups. Meme made supper on Sunday every Sunday for the entire family. Many times dessert was a cup of pudding. So they went to the car too. Then there was the CoCola CUps that Jojo would make Mtn. Dew floats in. Into the car....

the platter and mixing bowl for corn bread....into the car.

Each thing I took out was just too special to let go. So my dear children when I am 80 and you are going through my stuff you will know the memories behind some of the things that I have. I hope that I will make as many memories with you and your children as I have of my own grandparents.

Where she SHINES!

Lilly was born to be a dancer and maybe an actress. Lilly didn't complain as much about going to dance this year....meaning it wasn't a weekly struggle to get her there once I learned it is not worth the fight she just AIN'T wearing tights.

So Lilly and her class were AMAZING at dancing. KUDDOS to the teachers because they do an AWESOME job. I was amazed by by all the dancers and how much energy and love for dance they have. I went to a recitial a few weeks before Lilly's and it was good, but it just wasn't the same. Louisburg School of Dance is great and they sure inspire students to DANCE! Lilly danced with all of her heart and that makes my heart pound with pride and joy!

This is why::::

Lilly played t-ball only because she wanted to have a trophy like her Daddy. I will say Lilly "knocked the stink" out of the ball (those were her words not mine and I don't know where she heard that) during the last game. T-ball was quiet stressful for Jonathan and me....we were WAY more concerned about how Lilly played than Lilly. She was there to socialize and have fun. Her goal was accomplised she had lot's of fun. Towards the end she told me she needed a "pretty costume" cause the one she had for t-ball was ugly and the shoes hurt her feet. That is my little DIVA for you. She sure makes me proud when those words leave her mouth and I can look at Jonathan and say "told you so!" Anyway we had an AWESOME coach and if Lilly decides to play next year I hope we get Coach Rice again. He was BEYOND patient and his goal was for the kids to hit the ball and run the bases and not about winning. Our goal was for Lilly to be a part of a team and I think she did a great job!

Warning Naked Little Fellow: But sooo cute!

Jonathan was not happy to come home to this......

But hey it's summer and it is HOT! I was watering flowers and had gone to the front of the house when I returned to the water Jackson was naked and had his head under the faucet. I couldn't help but laugh and run for the camera. We watch Pecos Bill and this scene reminds me of Pecos Bill running with the coyotes. That would be Jackson....Pecos BIll wild and free. I can't get but so mad because he does the darnedest things.

Turtle Power

We were alerted to this by Shelby barking. Shelby has gone deaf so she doesn't bark often. I was afraid I would round the corner and find a snake. So I got the broom and told the kids to come and stay on the deck to watch. (Cause I ain't tounching a turtle) and as I was flipping the turtle over Jackson shouts from above "Shoot it Ma, Shoot it" He has become obessed with guns ever since Grandaddy taught him how to shoot the b-b gun and shoot squirles (which sounds like girls when he says it) I didn't shoot the turtle nor did Jackson, but only because he didn't have his gun here. He is SOOOOO serious when "hunting" squirles with Grandaddy. I just stand at the window and watch and laugh. Boys are really a whole new world.

A Month in Pictures

This is our busy time of year. EOG's with school, me tutoring, Lilly dance and t-ball, and church. It seems I am never home and do not know how I will manage when Jackson starts "going" places.

SO I will do a quick review of the last month in pictures. I have yet to figure out how to put captions for each picture so I will do a run down.

-Jackson loves going to church. He says "I go to church and play with my friends." He loves to play. When I ask him does he want to go to school and make friends he says "No, I stay with Mama." Once his response was "No, I drive tractors."

-Every day Jackson wants to wear his jeans and work boots no matter how warm it is outside. He has takes to doing exactly what Daddy and Grandaddy do and LOVES to be in the middle of a mess.

-Lilly registered for Kindergarten. She is SOOOOOOOO excited. She wanted to quit preschool and start big school that day.

-Lilly is playing t-ball. It is VERY stressful for Jonathan and me. Lilly has fun and that is ALL that matters. We know she could do much better, but until she really wants to she plays for the fun of it. It is fun to watch and I have noticed between me, Mom, and J's Mom our team has the largest and loudest cheering section. She told us last week she wanted to play something where there was a better "costume". She doesn't like the helmet and cleats. OH WELL!

-Dance recital #2 is coming up. Lilly has really enjoyed dance this year. I don't have to argue with her to get dressed and go and she truly LOVES dancing on stage. Kuddos to the dance teachers b/c they do an AWESOME job with a young group of girls who really just like to play.

-We took a family vacation to BUsh Gardens. Lot's of fun. Lilly only got lost once and that undid my nerves for a while. We had had a major talk with her about "stranger danger" because she thinks everyone can be her friend. That didn't stop her from running off on the playground. The hotel had an indoor pool and both kids had the most fun there. Jackson LOVED the rides. He had the most solom expression on every ride. We were not going to let him ride the teacups b/c it looked a little too much, however he laid down and cried when we took him out of line so he got to ride with Jonathan. Mama and Jonathan did most of the riding. It was a fun time with many memories.

-As I was typing this with Jackson sitting at the bar behind me he fell face first off the 3foot bar stool. He is going to scare the life out of me yet.
